Adaptations of the Heart
There are three types of heart that animals in the world have
Two Chambered Heart- Many fish have this and it is considered the most inefficient heart because oxygen rich blood mixes with oxygen poor blood. This causes the blood to never be completely pure.
Three Chambered Heart- All amphibians and most reptiles except for the crocodile have three chambered hearts. This is more efficient than the two chamber heart, but small amounts of blood are still mixed because there is no barrier.
Four Chamber Heart- All mammals and birds have a four chamber heart, and this makes it impossible for oxygen rich and oxygen poor blood to mix. This allows for the oxygen rich blood that leaves the lungs to never be diluted by deoxygenated blood.
The heart evolution has allowed humans and mammals to have the most efficient circulatory system.

Comparisons
Differences between open and closed circulatory system
- All of the five animals that I've researched have a close circulatory system except the horseshoe crab
- This means that the blood of all of these animals stays in the vessels of the animal except the horseshoe crabs
- The human is the only animal that has a four chambered heart that I have mentioned on this website
- The Frog, Kamodo Dragon, and Long Finned Squid all have a three chambered heart
- Since the Horseshoe Crab does not have a "true" heart the number of chambers is indistinguishable
